Information for 1st & 2nd year BiM & PGE students
What happens if I am absent from a continuous assessment in a language class?
Your grade in a language class is based entirely (100%) on continuous assessment. There are no final exams. It is therefore essential that continuous assessments are conducted in the same way for all students.
For this reason, continuous assessments will not be rescheduled for individual cases (unlike in some other subjects). Under no circumstances can a language teacher bring forward or postpone the date of an assessment.
If you are absent for an assessment, in most cases this will result in a grade of zero.
Only in exceptionally serious situations (hospitalisation, bereavement, official state-organised appointments, etc.) may an exemption be approved.
If you are unable to attend class on the day of an assessment for unavoidable and serious reasons (as explained above), you must contact the Language Department directly (via the Aloha – Contact Us button) and provide written justification for your absence.
Your case will then be reviewed by the Language Department Coordinators.
