As an MSc IMGT student (except double-degree exchange students), you can take part in the Winter Session, an optional two-week academic experience abroad. It is an opportunity to discover another European university, experience a new environment and study alongside students from another institution.
For 2027, the Winter Session will take place at FH Aachen in Germany.
WHAT IS THE WINTER SESSION?
The Winter Session is a two-week academic experience abroad taking place at the beginning of January.
During these two weeks, you will follow your academic course at the partner university. The course is taught jointly by a RSB professor and a professor from the partner university, with each professor teaching one week of the session.
You will be assessed during the Winter Session through assessment activities, and you will take your final exam at RSB in April 2027.
For January intake students, there is no final exam: you will receive a certificate of participation based on your attendance and participation in class.
And if I don't participate?
The Winter Session is optional.
If you choose not to participate, you will not have classes during the Winter Session period. You will therefore be free to organise these two weeks as you wish, before your regular academic schedule resumes.

- Transportation to and from Germany
Make sure you take these costs into consideration before confirming your participation.
WHERE WILL YOU GO?
FH Aachen - University of Applied Sciences | Germany
For the 2027 Winter Session, the partner university is FH Aachen, in Aachen, Germany.
Why is there only one destination this year?
For 2027, FH Aachen will be the only partner university for the Winter Session, based on the number of students concerned this year. This also allows us to keep the participation process simple and straightforward.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
There is only one step for you to complete:
1. Complete the OFL – 15 to 19 October 2026
From 15 to 19 October 2026, you will have to complete an OFL asking you whether you wish to participate in the Winter Session 2027.
Important
If you do not complete the OFL by the deadline, you will be considered as not participating in the Winter Session.
If you indicate that you wish to participate, RSB will then confirm the next steps and provide you with the practical information you need to prepare for your stay.
BEFORE YOU SAY YES
The Winter Session is a great opportunity, but participation also comes with some practical commitments.
Before confirming your participation, make sure you can:
- Be available from 11 to 22 January 2027
- Travel to and from Germany
- Cover your meals and personal expenses
- Cover local transportation costs
- Meet the academic requirements of the Winter Session
Once your participation is confirmed
Your participation is final and cannot be cancelled.
If you cancel after confirmation, this may have academic and financial consequences, including a Fail grade for the module and costs related to accommodation already booked on your behalf.
Please refer to the MSc Student Handbook for further information about the consequences of obtaining an F grade.
