The main goal of the course* is to provide a clear-sighted and unbiased view of different aspects of contemporary French.
The first class will be devoted to the reflection about the wide notion of culture.
Beyond the necessary presentation of each topic by the lecturer, the classes are interactive between the lecturer and the students and also in multicultural work groups reconsidering the issue.
Depending on the programme you will follow, different activities will be organised such as a visit of the historical city of Rennes (a very dynamic cultural town), as well as a visit of the musuem of Brittany.
The other objective of the course is definitely to widen and enrich one's thinking and vision about the shaping and complexity of cultural identity.
Theodor Zeldin, the famous British historian, wrote at the end of his book "The French": "A shared experience is more than a bond; it is a joint-discovery of unexpected possibilities".
*: this course will be taught in English
