In France, it is highly recommended to open a French Bank account as it will be mandatory for any administrative procedure. For example, you will need to provide your French bank account to receive the housing allowance, be reimbursed for your medical expenses, renew your resident permit, for U.S. Federal Student Aid recipients….
HOW TO OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT ONLINE
Rennes School of Business has built a partnership to open a bank account online with one of its partner banks. This partnership is only available for the student of Rennes's campus because your main agency will be in Rennes if you do this online process. The banking agency is « BNP PARIBAS - RENNES MAIRIE” ideally located in Rennes city centre. Please note that you will first need to have a permanent address in France before starting.
You can anticipate the procedure by preparing the following documents:
- Valid European ID card or passport,
- Proof of accommodation: contract copy, or if hosted, ID copy of host with host’s proof of accommodation and a rental certificate
- Proof of registration at RSB
Here is the list of documents to fill out and sign (documents are available at the end of the article):

For your information, the credit card will be free of charge during your entire study period by providing your certificate of studies. The bank is also able to offer housing insurance on special request.
