What is an OFL?
OFL = Offre de Formation en Ligne => Online Training Offer.
It is during an OFL that Students of Rennes SB will make a decision regarding the pathway choices, defining their professional orientation.
This choice is made via Rise, for a given period of time.
When will the OFL be opened on RISE?
Depending on the classification of students, the OFL takes place in several waves:
- Wave 1: from Thursday 12th January to Monday 16th January 2023
- Students ranked from 1 to 140
- Wave 2: from Thursday 19th January to Monday 23rd January 2023
- Students ranked from 141 to 275
How am I concerned by the OFL scheduled from 12th to 23rd January 2023?
It is for you, BiM2 students, to determine for the start of the school year in BiM3:
- If you wish to continue your training on the Bachelor in Initial Format or in Work Study Format,
- The associated area of specialization (among 4 specialisations proposed),
- A choice of Partner Universities for those who have joined the Bachelor in the first year and who will pursue their BIM3 year of studies in the Initial Format.
What happens if I don't respond to the OFL?
This OFL is a milestone in your curriculum in Rennes SB. It is expected of you that you are invested in your academic journey and respectful of the dates. If you have a technical problem, please contact Aloha.
Can I modify my answers in the OFL?
I can modify my answers until the OFL closes. Once it is closed, I will no longer be able to make modifications.
How do I know that my choices are saved ?
You automatically receive a confirmation email with your selected choices once you have clicked on the button SAVE. If you did not receive a confirmation email, this means that your choices are not saved.
How will the OFL take place?
There are several steps:
STAGE 1
The first step concerns all BiM2 students and consists in choosing from the following 2 options:
- Initial training Format,
- Work Study Format (International Innovative Business Management).
If your first choice is the Work-Study format, you will have to complete a file (CV + Form to fill in on Rise).
If your first choice is the Initial training Format, you will have to select Partner Universities abroad (only if you entered BIM in the First year).
STAGE 2 - Only for the choice of "Initial Training Format" on the Rennes campus
Once you have made this first choice, the second step will invite you to select among the 3 following specializations:
- Marketing,
- Finance,
- Supply Chain.
Does my fist year ranking have an impact on my ability to enter the Work-study programme?
No, your first year ranking does not affect your place in the work-study programme. It is only used to select partner universities (more details in the "Focus on the academic exchange abroad" section).
Focus on the "International Innovative Business Management" specialisation of the work-study programme*
I have found a company willing to sign a work-study contract for the 2023/2024 academic year, can I already sign my contract?*
You must:
1. Choose the work-study Format during the OFL.
2. Wait for the work-study department to contact you, once the OFL period has ended, to present the programme and the necessary administrative procedures at the School.
3. Read the technical file of the year 2023 to distribute it to the company so that it agrees with the requirements of the programme (course content, calendar and prices).
No contract can be signed by Rennes SB before these stages.
If I choose the Work-Study Format, can I go on an academic exchange abroad?*
No, this is not possible because the BiM3 programme in Work Study requires your presence within a company/organization throughout the year. An academic exchange of a few months is therefore not compatible.
What is the typical week in BiM3 Work-Study?*
The last 2 days of the week (Thursday-Friday) are dedicated to your academic experience in class. The other 3 days of the week are dedicated to your corporate experience - NB: Saturday can also be a working day.
I have found a contract with a company in Lyon, can I follow my academic training online?*
It is your responsibility to find a company that will be geographically close to the campus you will be attached to. Your school makes every effort to provide face-to-face teaching. Therefore, you cannot consider following classes on a distance mode.
How many places are available on the Work Study Format in BiM3 in 2023/2024?*
There are 35 places.
Are there any requirements to join the BiM3 Work-Study programme?*
There are no admission requirements.
We will ask you to attach a CV and complete a file in order to get to know you better and to assist you in your contacts with companies interested in your profile.
There are 35 places, isn't that selective?*
No, again, it is not selective when applying for this specific Programme in Work Study format. However, only the first 35 students who have signed a Work Study contract with a company can be guaranteed to follow this Programme, with:
- School fees paid by the company
- Employee and Student status
- ..
I have an opportunity to sign a contract with a company in Paris, do I have the assurance of being able to follow my training (the courses) on the Paris campus?*
Only the first 5 students who have signed a contract with a company and indicated the wish to follow their training in Paris, can be assured of being enrolled on that campus.
If the number of places is already reached in Paris by the time you sign your contract, you will have to organize yourself to follow each week, the courses on the Rennes campus (like any other student in Work Study Format, whose geographical location of their company does not necessarily correspond with that of the place of training).
How can I find out about the number of contracts signed over the coming months?*
You will be informed throughout the semester of the number of contracts signed, by the Work Study department.
What happens if the number of Work Study students, i.e., 35, is reached and/or I do not have a signed contract?*
Any student who has chosen to follow the Work Study Prgoramme, will necessarily have to stay on this Programme. It will therefore not be possible to switch to the Initial Training Format and study abroad. This rule applies to students who have signed a work-study contract and also to those who have not signed a contract.
We will encourage the latter to complete their training, initially planned in Work Study, in the form of a Work Study Internship, not requiring a work-study contract. This will imply that the student pays for his BIM3 School fees and remains under a student status, while still benefiting from a professionalising experience throughout his academic training.
I am a foreign student; can I apply for the Work Study Programme?
Yes, it is possible as long as you have followed a one-year training at Rennes SB, in BiM2 therefore.
I want to continue my studies after my third year of Bachelor on the Work Study Programme, is this possible?
Yes, this is possible since the duration of the Work Study contract is of one year. Once you have graduated from the Bachelor in Management on the Work Study format, you will have the opportunity to pursue your studies towards a Master degree at Rennes SB or in another School / University.
Focus on the three specialisations of the Initial Training Format (Marketing, Finance Supply Chain)
To what extent must I have an in-depth reflection regarding the specialisation I want to choose?
Your choice of specialization in BiM3 is decisive, as it not only influences your professional orientations but will also impact your personal life in the longer term.
It will influence the mission sought in the company during the end-of-studies internship.
This specialisation must also appear in the choice of your Bachelor Dissertation topic (final dissertation).
I have decided to choose the Initial Training Format and to specialise in Supply Chain - among the three proposed. Will I have the possibility to follow courses in the Partner University linked with the specialisation I have chosen?
Of course, the choice of Partner Universities offered to all students covers all the specialisations proposed (Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance). The University Placement Offer table indicates precisely which universities are the most suitable and expert in the specialisation you have chosen. Once you have arrived at the Partner University, you will be able to find out more about the courses on offer.
I have decided to choose the Initial Training Format and to specialise in Supply Chain, but I am interested in a Partner University which only offers marketing courses. Can I choose it?
Your choice of Partner Universities must be well thought out and consistent. You cannot choose a university that does not offer courses in your chosen specialisation, as this will increase the risk of failure. The choice of specialisation (Marketing, Finance, or Supply Chain), will impact the subject of your Bachelor Dissertation and the field in which you will do your end-of-studies internship in BiM3. Keep in mind that you are training for a profession, which implies a certain coherence in the choice of specialisation and the partner university.
I’ve just started my BIM3 year, I think I made a mistake with the Specialisation I chose during the OFL. Can I change?
Again, this choice must be carefully considered. You have had the opportunity to assist to a presentation of all specialisations offered on 23rd November, 2022 - replay available at the end of the FAQ) and led by competent professors in each of these specialisations. Thus, no change of specialisation will be possible once the OFL is closed.
Clic here to discover the programs of BiM3 at Rennes SB.
Where can I find information about the courses offered at the Partner University I am targeting?
You will find all the information related to the courses on the University Placement Offer table, communicated from December 15th by the International Mobility.
Is it possible to take marketing courses in S5 in Rennes SB and Supply Chain in S6 in the Partner University?
Your specialization is taught over a full academic year, so this option is not possible.
You must choose your partner university according to the specialisation for which you have a real interest and which you will select.
IMPORTANT: a student who wishes to PURSUE his/ her studies at Rennes SB after the Bachelor, in the MSc in International Finance in Rennes (full-time) or in the Master in International Finance in Paris (part-time), will have to choose the BIM3 Finance specialisation, as a compulsory prerequisite.
Focus on the academic exchange abroad
Who is concerned by the academic exchange abroad?
Only students who have entered the Bachelor programme in the first year can go on an academic exchange.
I am an international student who entered the Bachelor programme in BiM2. Can I go abroad in BiM3?
No you cannot since the ranking used for the partner university selection is based on the grades of BiM1.
I have decided to follow the BIM3 in an Initial training Format, what are the different options with regards to the Academic Exchange Abroad during BIM3?
4 possible options:
-
- Exchange abroad - Semester 5 (departure between July/September and return between December/Beginning of January – according to the university calendar), just after completing your BiM2 internship. The number of places is not limited.
- Exchange abroad - Semester 6 (departure between January/March and return between May/July – according to the university calendar) after spending a first semester at Rennes SB. The number of places is not limited.
- One year for Credit Transfer: only students with a GPA of BiM1 before resit greater than or equal to 2.5 have the possibility of an exchange in these universities. The number of places offered is between 10 and 20.
- One year abroad for a Double Degree: only students with a GPA of BiM1 before resit greater than or equal to 3 can join a double degree exchange abroad. The number of places offered is between 10 and 20.. The Double Diploma allows you to have the degree of the Bachelor in Management of Rennes SB and the diploma of the Partner University.
How many choices will I have to make and in what order?
You will have to make 12 choices of Partner Universities on Rise. You will have to rank them in order of preference, the first choice being that of the Partner University you would like to go to in priority.
How does my BiM 1 GPA impact my choices of Partner Universities?
BiM2 students are ranked in descending order of their first-year annual GPA and are assigned to partner universities of their choice, starting with the student at the top of the ranking.
How can I decide which semester I want to go on exchange?
During this OFL, on RISE, you will see these options (here as an example):
- University_X_S5 (this choice means you wish to go to the University X for semester 5)
- University_X_S6 (this choice means you wish to go to the University X for semester 6)
- University_X_1 year (this choice means you wish to go to the University X for the full year S5+S6)
- University_X_1 year double degree (this choice means you wish to go to the University X for the full year S5+S6 for a Double Degree)
How are allocations carried out?
Based on your ranking, we look at your 1st choice. If it is available, then you are assigned to the corresponding university. If there are no more places left for your 1st choice of university, the 2nd choice will be considered, then the 3rd choice etc., up until your 12th choice, if necessary.
If none of your choices are available, the allocation process is stopped. You are contacted by our team to make an additional choice among the available universities within 24 hours. You keep your place in the ranking anyway.
When will I know which university I am assigned to?
The results of the Partner University allocations are communicated within 3 days after the OFL period ends.
I am in wave 2. How will I know which slots in which partner universities are still available?
After that students of wave 1 will have made their choices, we will publish an updated University Placement Offer table with the remaining slots available for students of wave 2. You will therefore be able to make your University selection referring to this updated University Placement Offer.
How do I communicate my course choices to Rennes SB once I will be arrived in the Partner University?
You will need to have your course choices approved by your Mobility Officer within the International Mobility team, by completing a document entitled "Learning Agreement". Once your courses have been validated by Rennes SB, you will have to have this Learning Agreement signed at the host University and return it to Rennes SB.
I chose to follow the initial training; I was assigned to a Partner University. During my BiM2 internship, my tutor offered me a work-study contract for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Is it therefore possible to give up my academic exchange abroad and switch to the Work Study Format?
No, it is not possible. Once the OFL is closed, you must stay on the chosen course. You must carefully consider your choice since the commitment to a place in academic exchange abroad must be respected. This is for several reasons: your GPA positions you in the ranking and gives you priorities in choosing Partner Universities. Out of respect for the other students ranked after you, who would have liked to get the place you have chosen, it is inconceivable to finally leave it vacant. In addition, it would disrupt the organisation of the host University as to the expected students.
I want to continue my studies, can an exchange abroad in S6 be an obstacle to my participation in the entrance exams for a new training?
Entrance exams for a new training course are organised over the S6 period. If you choose to go abroad during S6, you may have to return to France to take your exams.
* the number of work-study places and the distribution between sites may be subject to change
