The exchange abroad is first and foremost an academic period with several objectives:
- to open you up to the world
- to discover another culture and teaching methods
- to obtain academic credits
It is not a linguistic exchange or a "voyage of discovery" but an opportunity for you to study business abroad.
BiM students who have been enrolled at Rennes SB since BIM1 must complete an exchange (except if they choose to complete BiM3 in a work-study format).
This depends on the option you choose:
- Semester 5
- Semester 6
- Semesters 5 and 6
- (Full Year in Transfert of Credit) GPA ⩾ 2,5
- (Full Year in Double Degree) GPA ⩾ 3
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO COMPLETE MY RISE PROFILE?
In order to allocate you a university, we must first verify the compatibility of your profile with the prerequisites of our partner universities (passport validity, language tests, GPA). It is your responsibility to make sure that you are eligible for the Partner Universities you intend to apply for. Through the OFL (Online Training Offer), you will have access to all the universities for which your profile meets the admission conditions.
DO I NEED TO UPLOAD A VALID PASSPORT?
If you wish to access universities outside of Europe, then, it is compulsory to submit a copy of your valid passport on your RISE account (the document must be valid for the entire duration of your exchange + at least 6 months after the end of your exchange in order to avoid any administrative problems with embassies).
WHERE SHOULD I UPLOAD MY VALID PASSPORT?
Connect to your RISE account and click on "Study Abroad > My passport". Upload your passport and fill in the requested data.
WHAT IF I CHOOSE TO CARRY OUT MY EXCHANGE IN EUROPE?
You do not need to provide a passport, instead, select the “No, I want to go to Europe” field. Don’t forget to make sure that your identity card is valid for the duration of your exchange.
I AM A NON-EUROPEAN STUDENT. DO I NEED A VISA TO STUDY IN ANOTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRY?
Yes, you will need to apply for another student visa for the country you wish to go to.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEST?
Some universities require an official language test as a prerequisite for admission. If you wish to submit test results (TOEIC/TOEFL iBT/IELTS type) as part of the university allocation process, you must have submitted your valid test results on RISE via the "Study Abroad > My language certificate" tab before the deadline.
The language test scores required by our partners are definitive. If a TOEFL iBT score of 80 is requested on the University Placement Offer, a score of 79 will not be accepted by Rennes SB or the partner university.
Some universities accept either the TOEFL iBT or the TOEIC. In this case, you do not need to validate both tests, but whichever one you choose.
REGARDING LV2, WHAT IS MY LEVEL?
Some universities require a minimum LV2 level as a prerequisite for admission. Your LV2 level is justified either by:
- Your LV2 results from Rennes SB (grade A=C1, grade B-C=B2, grade D-E=B1)
- A specific LV2 official language test
If you choose a destination where you will study in your second language (Spanish, Italian or German), please ensure that you are not only capable of fully understanding your classes in this language, but also that you will be able to actively participate in the classroom and complete your homework and exams in this language (failure mainly occurs due to insufficient knowledge of the teaching language).
IS THERE A DEADLINE FOR COMPLETING MY RISE PROFILE?
You must complete your profile on RISE before 31st December (BiM2 year).
IN WHICH PARTNER UNIVERSITIES CAN I CARRY OUT MY EXCHANGE?
During your OFL, you have access to all of the Partner Universities for which your profile meets the admission requirements. With our 350 academic partners, we strive to offer you the widest possible choice of exchange destinations. You will therefore have access to many countries, even if all the universities within each country will not be accessible, in order to maintain equity between all programmes.
The Partner Universities list that will be accessible for your specific programme and cohort will be sent by email via the University Placement Offer (UPO) when ready.
WHEN WILL I FIND OUT ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY PLACEMENT OFFER?
The University Placement Offer, with the universities available for a departure in semester 5, semester 6 or semesters 5 and 6 (full year), is available by mid-December (BiM2 year).
HOW CAN I KNOW ABOUT THE LANGUAGE PREREQUISITES REQUIRED BY THE PARTNER UNIVERSITIES?
As sometimes the University Placement Offer (UPO) can only be released a few weeks before your OFL, we recommend that you check the UPO from previous years in advance (▶University Placement Offer - Google Drive◀) to consult the Partner Universities that were available at that time. This will give you an idea of the possible destinations and the prerequisites requested by the partner universities (⚠ These documents are provided for information purposes only as they may change from one year to the next)
