The exchange abroad is first and foremost an academic period with several objectives:
- to open you up to the world
- to discover another culture and teaching methods
- to obtain academic credits
It is not a linguistic exchange or a "voyage of discovery" but an opportunity for you to study business abroad.
DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE AN EXCHANGE?
Yes, all AST2 students must complete an exchange, with the exception of ASTi.
WHEN DO I HAVE TO GO ON EXCHANGE?
There are 3 different possibilities:
- Exchange in semester 8 (2nd semester of PGE2) > [University Selection Timeline below]
- Exchange in semester 9 (Apprenticeship pathway - RPI): (1st semester of PGE3) > [University Selection Timeline]
- Exchange in semesters 9 and 10 (double-degree with full year of PGE3 abroad) > [University Selection Timeline]
WHAT IS THE UNIVERSITY SELECTION TIMELINE FOR AN EXCHANGE IN SEMESTER 8?
WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD I GATHER?
In order to give you access to the widest choice of partner universities, you must first meet their admission requirements (passport validity, language tests, GPA). It is your responsibility to make sure that you are eligible for the Partner Universities you intend to apply for. Through the OFL (Online Training Offer), you will have access to all the universities for which you meet the admission conditions.
Do I need to upload a valid passport?
If you wish to access universities outside of Europe, then, it is compulsory to submit on your RISE account a copy of your valid passport (which is valid for the entire duration of your exchange + at least 6 months after the end of your exchange in order to avoid any administrative problems with embassies).
Where to upload my valid passport?
Connect to your RISE account and click on the menu "Exchange Abroad > My passport". Upload your passport and fill in the requested data.
If I choose to carry out my exchange in Europe?
You do not need to provide a passport, instead, select the “No, I want to go to Europe” field. Don’t forget to make sure that your identity card is valid for the duration of your exchange. ⚠ This answer does not apply to students who choose a double-degree abroad (full year of PGE3), for which a valid passport is a condition of admission.
I am a non-European student. Do I need a visa to study in another European country?
Yes, indeed, you will need to apply for another student visa.
Do I have to take an English language tests?
Some universities require an official language test as a prerequisite for admission. If you wish to submit test results (TOEIC/TOEFL/IELTS type) as part of the university allocation process, you must have submitted your valid test results on RISE via "Exchange Abroad > My language certificate" tab before the deadline corresponding to your pathway (see below).
The language test scores required by our partners are definitive. If a TOEFL iBT score of 80 is requested on the Exchange Places Offer, a score of 79 will not be accepted by Rennes SB or the partner university.
Some universities accept either the TOEFL iBT or the TOEIC. In this case, you do not need to validate both tests, but whichever one you choose. The necessary test scores are included on the Exchange Places Offer.
Regarding LV2, what is my level?
Some universities require a minimum level in LV2 as a prerequisite for admission. Your LV2 level is justified either by:
- an online Language Placement test conducted by our language department (during summer)
- A specific LV2 official language test
- For Fast track student only: Your LV2 BIM2 annual results at Rennes SB (grade A=C1, grade B-C=B2, grade D-E=B1)
Please note: In case of a difference in results, we will only keep your best score.
If you choose a destination where you will study in your second language (Spanish, Italian or German), please ensure that you are not only capable of fully understanding your classes in this language, but also that you will be able to actively participate in the classroom and complete your homework and exams in this language (failure mainly occurs due to insufficient knowledge of the teaching language).
Is there a deadline for gathering my documents?
For an Exchange in semester 8, you must gather your documents on RISE before 31 August.
For an Exchange in semester 9 (Apprenticeship pathway - RPI), you must gather your documents on RISE before 31 January.
The Exchange in semesters 9 + 10 (Double Degree) is selective (valid passport + TOEFL score > 80), you must gather your documents on RISE before 31 August.
IN WHICH PARTNER UNIVERSITIES CAN I CARRY OUT MY EXCHANGE?
During your OFL, you have access to all of the Partner Universities for which you meet the admission requirements. With our 350 academic partners, we strive to offer you the widest possible choice of exchange destinations. You will thus have access to many countries even if all the universities within each country will not be accessible, in order to maintain equity between all programmes.
The Partner Universities list that will be accessible for your specific programme and cohort will be sent by email via the Exchange Places Offer document when ready.
When will I find out about the Exchange Places Offer ?
For an Exchange in semester 8, the Exchange Places Offer, with the universities available for an exchange, is available in early August.
For the Exchange in semester 9 (Apprenticeship pathway - RPI), the Exchange Places Offer, with the universities available for an exchange, is available in late January of PGE2.
