USEFUL INFORMATION BEFORE MAKING YOUR UNIVERSITY SELECTION
There are many factors to consider when making your choice of destinations. To help you prepare, we recommend that you read these guidelines carefully before beginning the exchange process.
PLAN YOUR BUDGET
Studying abroad as an exchange student generates fees that you have to be aware of and which is something you need to plan for in advance. Plan your budget according to your destination (transport, accommodation, visa, and potential trips to Paris for administrative papers, cost of living, insurance, etc.).
You can find information related to an average budget for each university in the Partner University Fact Sheets.
COURSES
Not all specialisations are available to study at every destination. It is important to make sure your choices are based on your personal career plan. You can find information on partner university courses here and by consulting the partner university websites.
THE LOGISTICAL ASPECTS ARE IMPORTANT TO ME (VISA, ACCOMMODATION, TRANSPORT, ETC). WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THIS?
Basically, all the organisational details of your stay abroad are your responsibility. You can read more about these aspects in Step 3. Plan ahead to make sure nothing gets in the way of your exchange!
TUITION FEES
You do not have to pay any tuition fees to the host university while going for an exchange abroad. You will keep paying your usual tuition fees to Rennes SB. However, keep in mind that, depending on Partner Universities, there might be some extra costs detailed in the University Factsheets (Student Union, student card, insurance...)
WE DO NOT USE SOCIAL NETWORKS TO PROVIDE YOU WITH INFORMATION
Please don’t pay attention to the information you may find on Facebook or on other social networks (except on the official school account). Rennes School of Business will send you all of the necessary information to help you make your decision and carry out the necessary procedures.
What do I need to do before selecting the universities that interest me?
You must complete your RISE profile (check AST2 - Step 1 - Get your RISE profile ready)
WHAT ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY SELECTION?
You make your selection of partner universities directly on your RISE account, through an OFL (Offre de Formation en Ligne) called OFL - University Selection.
When should I select my universities?
- Exchange in semester 4: at the start of the academic year (mid-September)
- Exchange in semester 5 (Work-study - RPI (2 years)): in March of your PGE2 year
- Exchange in semesters 5 + 6 (Double Degree): in February of your PGE2 year (or February N+1 if you choose to take a gap year)
HOW DO I MAKE MY SELECTION?
Online, via an OFL accessible on your RISE account. You will be notified by email when the process starts. As long as the OFL is open, you can modify your choices by deleting them and restarting them in your desired order until the OFL closes. Once the OFL is closed, your choices are final. Don’t wait until the last minute to make your choices.
DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL
Once you have validated your OFL, you will automatically receive a confirmation email. Make sure to double-check that the list of partner universities appearing on this confirmation email is correct.
How many universities should I choose?
You can choose 12 universities, in order of preference. Once your university selection period is closed, no more changes can be done.
NB: For foreign students, the universities you choose must be located outside your country of origin.
WHAT ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY ALLOCATION?
How will I be ranked and when will i find out my ranking?
Partner Universities are allocated according to a ranking which is based on your academic results. A temporary ranking, including all AST2 students, is provided at the same time as the University Placement Offer, in early August.
For an Exchange in semesters 5 + 6 (Double Degree): If you do not take a gap year, your ranking is based on your GPA before resit for semester 3 (1st semester of the PGE2). If you take a gap year, the ranking is based on your GPA score before resit for semester 4 (2nd semester of PGE2). Ranking available in February.
For an Exchange in semester 4: the final ranking (with only the students who chose the Exchange in semester 4) is communicated in mid-September.
For an Exchange in semester 5 (Work-study - RPI (2 years)): Your ranking is based on your GPA before resit for semester 3 (1st semester of the PGE2). Ranking available in February.
How are allocations carried out?
Based on your ranking, we look at your 1st choice. If it is available, then you are assigned to the corresponding university. If there are no more places left for your 1st choice of university, the 2nd choice will be considered, then the 3rd choice etc., up until your 12th choice. You need to think carefully about any of your choices as you may be allocated to your first choice until your twelfth choice.
If none of your choices are available, the allocation process is stopped. Then, you will be contacted by our team to make an additional choice among the available universities: you will have 24 hours to do so. In any case, you keep your place in the ranking.
Please note: if a student does not choose a partner university, Rennes SB will make the arbitrary decision and allocate them one of the remaining host universities.
When will I know which university I am assigned to?
The results of the Partner University allocations are communicated within 3 days of the closure of the OFL.
YOUR ALLOCATED UNIVERSITY IS FINAL
The number of places per destination is non-negotiable. We cannot ask for additional places. Similarly, any places remaining at the end of the university allocation process are not available for you to change destinations. Once your allocated university is confirmed and published, your assigned place is final.
