By way of example, here are the signs most frequently encountered when our mental health is not as good as usual (they have been compiled by the Swiss mental health promotion association MINDS www.minds-ge.ch and reproduced by Psycom):
- Loss of appetite or, on the contrary, excessive or unusual consumption of food
- Difficulty falling asleep or, on the contrary, too much time spent sleeping
- Irritability, mood swings
- Low self-esteem, constant self-deprecation
- Difficulty concentrating or finding interest in activities
- Loss of motivation and enthusiasm
- Black thoughts, suicidal thoughts
- Excessive or unusual use of alcohol or medication
- Difficulty performing daily tasks such as preparing a meal, washing, going to work
- Feeling targeted by what others say, no longer being able to trust those close to you
- Seeing or hearing things that others do not see or hear
